Who Can Sing?

The St. Paul’s Cathedral Choir of Men and Boys has openings for boys aged 7-12 with unchanged voices.

The Cathedral Girls’ Choir is currently accepting auditions for girls ages 8-16.

A young boy or girl who is interested in singing usually begins in the Training Choir Program. The Boys’ and Girls’ Training Choirs are perfect for boys and girls ages 6-9 (age range somewhat flexible).

When is Rehearsal?

The Boys’ Choir rehearses on Tuesdays and Thursdays; the Girls’ Choir rehearses on Mondays and Wednesdays. Both choirs sing regularly for the Sunday services. The Boys’ Training Choir meets only on Tuesdays; this includes time with the entire Boys’ Choir as well time on their own for a music theory lesson. Special concerts and services occur frequently from September to May, both in Buffalo and in nearby cities. In addition, the choirs have traveled extensively overseas, making trips to the United Kingdom, France, and Sweden.

Here is the basic schedule of the Training Choirs:

The Boys’ Training Choir
* One rehearsal a week commitment (Tuesdays from 4.30pm until 5.20pm)

The Girls’ Training Choir
* One rehearsal a week commitment (Wednesdays from 4.30pm until 5.20pm)

Objective of the Training Choirs
* Focus on basic music reading skills, ear training, and basic vocal production
(especially concentrating on pitch, rhythm, piano skills, and following a musical score)
