Charles Wolter sang in the Men/Boys choir from 1990-2004, returning this Fall because he couldn’t pass up the opportunity to work with Jonathan Scarozza, who was Head Chorister while he was in the Boys‘ Choir.. He graduated from The Park School of Buffalo in 2000 and stayed in the choir while majoring in Political Science at UB, graduating in 2004. He worked at M&T Bank, and now is a Financial Aid Counselor at D’Youville College.
Chuck has been singing non-stop since 1990, spending time with Vocalis Chamber Choir and currently singing with Harmonia Chamber Singers. He went on the 1993, 1996, and 2000 Men and Boys England tours. Some of his favorite places to sing were Durham Cathedral, York Minster, and St. Paul’s Cathedral, London. The tours allowed him to feel an extra connection to the music that the choir sings, as much of it was composed and first performed in the English cathedrals.
The Choir has had a huge influence on Chuck’s life. He will always appreciate the love of music and singing that the choir instilled in him. He joined when he was 8 years old, so he can barely remember a time when there wasn’t another concert, service, or rehearsal coming up. But the most profound thing that he has taken away from his time at St. Paul’s is the relationships that he has formed. Many of his closest friends to this day are the same guys he was singing evensong with on Tuesday nights in the Boys’ Choir.
